The Port Authority of Winona met Thursday and heard from the Winona Chamber of Commerce President concerning efforts to promote downtown revitalization.
                     
Della Schmidt says meetings with Winona business leaders indicate a need to spruce up the downtown image.

Schmidt says the national and state Main Street approach is different than other past downtown initiatives and has the full support of the Chamber.

The Main Street Task Force has recommended moving forward with efforts to establish the Winona Main Street Structure that involves a four point approach to downtown revitalization...design, organization, promotion and economic expansion.

The Port Authority will add the request for $30,000 a year for 3 years to help fund the program on it's August agenda.
