A Spring Valley winery has taken top honors at the fourth annual International Cold Climate Wine Competition at the University of Minnesota. A 2011 La Crescent wine from Four Daughters Vineyard and Winery won the Minnesota's Governor's Cup trophy Thursday.
The large silver ice bucket recognizes the "Best of Show" of all Minnesota gold-winning wines. The Four Daughters 2011 La Crescent also won "Best of Show" for the top white wine.
Another "Best of Show" award went to Danzinger Vineyards of Alma, for its Midnight Voyage Dessert Red Wine, for best specialty/fortified wine. This year's competition included more than 325 wines from commercial wineries in 12 states and Canada.
