Bridge--Next Steps

The project manager for the Winona Highway 43 bridge project says much work will need to be done once the new second-bridge option gets final approval.

In Winona Friday Jai Kalsy, with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, said the final approval will need to come from the Winona City Council, and when that is done, the design phase can begin which will include environmental studies and property acquisition on both sides of the river.  Kalsy also said the project timeline calls for the entire project to be completed in an estimated three construction seasons.

Kalsy said the Community Bridge Project Advisory Committee, that includes local stakeholders, will still meet on September 10 to review the new plans, and the public gets its chance to offer input in late September at a public open house that is still being planned.
