Frac Sand Meeting
The Land Stewardship Project will hold a press conference and a march in downtown Winona Tuesday on the frac sand mining industry issues.
The press conference will start at 4:10 p.m. in Levee park at the foot of Main Street. At 4:20 the people will march to the Kensington Building at Third and Johnson Streets for a 30-minute meeting with Paul Van Ejil, the land acquisitions manager for Superior Sand Systems.
The Land Stewardship Project is attempting to make clear how little information about the frac sand mining industry has been made public. They also want to lay out the questions the industry must answer before Minnesota counties and townships consider mine and facility applications......
In addition to the Land Stewardship meeting in Winona, Houston County citizens will protest and air their concerns at an informational meeting of the new sand mining company, Minnesota Proppants, which recently purchased the Farm-2-Rail site near St. Charles.
Land Stewardship members in Winona, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, Goodhue, and Fillmore Counties are calling for increased transparency from the fast-growing frac sand industry.....
