Teacher Assault--Lyons

A 28 year old Winona woman, and former special education instructor in the Wabasha-Kellogg schools, has been accused of assaulting a vulnerable adult student.

The Wabasha County Herald is reporting that Nicole Jean Lyon has been charged in Wabasha District Court with two assault counts.  The paper says Lyon allegedly struck the student with a file folder on May 10th, and later that same day, Lyon allegedly wrapped a towel around the woman's head and mouth when the student "acted up."

The paper says Lyon had her contract with the school district terminated on June 20th by the school board.  She is facing one count of assault on a vulnerable adult, a gross misdemeanor, and one misdemeanor count of fifth degree assault.
