While Minnesota did not have a jackpot winner in Wednesday night's $587 million Powerball Lottery, Winona County had a big winner. The Lottery says someone in Winona County won $1 million in the Powerball Lottery by matching the first five numbers but not the Powerball.
The name of the new millionaire has not been released and the winner needs to take the lucky ticket to Lottery headquarters in Roseville to claim the prize.
The Lottery said thousands of other Minnesota players won an additional combined $939,174 in Wednesday's drawing. A Minnesota record of $10.9 million dollars in Powerball sales occurred on Wednesday. Minnesota retailers earned more than $1.5 million in commissions.
