The city received a $283,000 Safe Routes to School federal grant for the project and will pay $23,000 to have Yaggy Engineering conduct a preliminary topographic survey of the area where the new sidewalk will go in.
City officials said the project cost will not be assessed to adjacent property owners who will be receiving the letter. The city will host a public meeting on the project in January when the survey work is completed.
The Goodview City Council will discuss the letter Monday at its regular meeting at 5:00 p.m.
