Matty's Place is located at the Family and Children's Center in Winona and serves children who are reported to be victims of malreatment. It provides a safe and comfortable place where children are interviewed by professionals and child care advocates about possible abuse and neglect.
Since it was established in Winona in July of 2001, 38 forensic interviews of children and vulnerable adults have taken place there. Matty's Place has received its associate accreditation by the National Children's Alliance, the first step in becoming a fully accredited child advocacy center.
It's named after a young boy who lost his life several years ago in another part of the country when he was sexually abused.
