Klobachar--WSU

Minnesota Senator Amy Klobachar had a chance Monday to see the National Child Protection Training Center in Winona up close and personal.

Klobachar toured the center on the Winona State University campus, along with WSU President Scott Olson, and said the ongoing efforts to prevent child abuse  no longer are just about Minnesota now with the center's national recognition.

Klobachar has sponsored legislation to make the Winona center one of four regional child abuse training centers across the country for law enforcement officers. prosecutors, and others who deal with child abuse cases.  Klobachar says she has bipartisan support for her bill and is confident it will get Congress's approval.

She also praised the Training Center's recent affiliation with Gunderson Lutheran Healthcare in La Crosse which result in training provided for healthcare workers who have to deal with treating the victims of child abuse.
