Houston County Flooding

Houston County Emergency Management Sunday put the county under a state of emergency after heavy rains caused significant weekend flooding over roadways throughout the county.
The Caledonia Argus reports one car was swept off the road on County Road 15, The incident resulted in the rescue of one individual.

Emergency Management Director Kurt Kuhlers said preliminary damage estimates have already hit the $2,000,000 mark for the county highway system.  
The water-saturated hillsides and valleys have officials on high alert as well as residents in flood-prone areas.

Travel throughout Houston County remained limited.  Roadways are either washed out or under water. Three state highways that had been closed were re-opened on Sunday afternoon.

Residents are being asked to take notice of changing weather conditions. Water can rise very quickly.

Significant damage has also occurred in Fillmore County.
