The Winona County Board of Commissioners Tuesday continued their discussions on department head hiring policy and procedures.
During the committee-of-the-board meeting after the regular meeting,
Commissioner Marcia Ward said she would like to see a panel that includes members of the public.
Third District Commissioner Steve Jacob agreed, saying he thinks his constituents should have a say in the process of county government.
Currently, the County Administrator is in charge of hiring department heads.
Ward noted that it's not just the department heads who are vital to the county but also many directors in certain departments as well. She would like to see some of them be included in any hiring changes of department heads.
Commissioners Greg Olson and Jim Pomeroy indicated that they did not support any change to the current hiring policy and procedures.
The item will be brought back for a vote at a future meeting.
