Supporters of Oktoberfest will put down their trademark brats, pretzels and beer steins for one night as the first "Forks and Corks" event debuts on May 1st.
The evening of fine wines expertly matched with special cuisine will serve as a fundraising event for the charitable arm of La Crosse Festivals, Inc.
The evening begins with hors d'oeuvres, entrees, American fare, and desserts, along with hand-selected red, white, sparkling white wines and champagnes. Not to stray too far from the traditions of Oktoberfest, the event this year will also feature German wines and German food entrees.
The event is the "roll out" of the 54th annual Oktoberfest celebration which gets underway September 25th. Event attendees will hear about the entertainment lineup for Oktoberfest and be the first to view the button design selected to symbolize the "Munich on the Mississippi" theme for 2014.
The over-21 event will be held at Nell's City Grill, 1111 South Third Street, La Crosse, and the cost is $35. Tickets are available at Festival Foods in La Crosse, Onalaska and Holmen, Kwik Trip stores in La Crosse, Onalaska, Holmen and West Salem, State Bank Financial - main office on State St. in La Crosse and the Oktoberfest USA Office.
