A German company has made an offer to purchase T-R-W Automotive Holdings Corporation based in the United States.
The Wall Street Journal reports Z-F Friedrichschafen's purchase would create an automotive supply powerhouse with combined annual sales in excess of 40-billion dollars.
A Z-F spokesman did not comment to the paper on the rationale for the offer.
T-R-W told the Journal it is considering the nonbinding buyout offer and is also weighing other options.
T-R-W produces auto safety components such and air bags and brakes for automakers around the world. T-R-W operates a plant in Winona and one in Galesville.
