An Alma woman is on track to become the new administrative coordinator of Buffalo County.
A 5-member selection committee recommended the Buffalo County Board of Supervisors appoint Sonya Hansen coordinator at its next session on July 28th.
The 56-year-old Hansen has worked for Buffalo County for 15 years as coordinator of child support services, as well as assistant director of health & human services since 2007.
She was chosen as the top finalist among a field of 10 people that applied for the job. The selection committee voted unanimously to recommend hiring Hansen, according to Buffalo County Board Chairman Douglas Kane.
A 2nd finalist, Mary Malloy of Alma, withdrew after accepting a position as director of marketing at Winona State University, Kane said.
Hansen has had over 20 years of solid, operations management in county government and private industry and 35 years job experience in customer services.
Kane said the county board would receive a recommendation to set Hansen's annual salary at $68,000 plus fringe benefits.
The county board has said it wants a coordinator to function as chief operating officer of county government under direction of the board and chairperson.
