Drug Charges

A 22-year-old Eau Claire man is facing preliminary felony drug charges after Winona police made a traffic stop just after 3:00 a.m. Wednesday at Second and Wilson Streets.

Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams said Nicholas Flater was cited with fifth degree possession of cocaine, fifth degree possession of halucinagenic mushrooms, and test refusal.

Williams said an officer noticed Flater's vehicle driving erratically and speeding.

The officer searched a backpack inside the vehicle and discovered 9.3 grams of mushrooms, .69 grams of cocaine, and 1.7 grams of marijuana inside.

Flater was jailed while the case is reviewed by the county attorney's office for possible formal charges.
