Cotter, WACS Grants

The administrators of Cotter Schools and Winona Area Catholic Schools (WACS) announced Wednesday that Cotter Schools and WACS have received unsolicited and anonymous multi-million dollar grants for tuition assistance.

These grants will enable both school systems to immediately reduce their current tuition rates, resulting in an approximate 50% decrease in out-of-pocket tuition costs for parents enrolling their children in Winona Area Catholic Schools, Cotter Junior High, and/or Cotter High School now and in the future.

According to Sister Judith Schaefer, President of Cotter Schools, and Mr. Pat Bowlin, Principal of WACS, this has significant reduction on tuition for the 2014-2015 school year: $1,000 per student for Kindergarten, $1,500 per student for grades 1 to 6, $2,000 per student for grades 7and 8, and $3,000 for day students in grades 9 to 12.

In addition, all Cotter High School graduates who continue their education after high school will receive, on average, $1,500 per year towards their tuition at a United States college or university of their choice.

The monetary gifts, making WACS and Cotter Schools more affordable and accessible, are from a group of supporters who wish to remain anonymous.
