State Senator Jeremy Miller has announced that the Minnesota Department of Revenue will grant an extension on payment deadlines for certain taxpayers who were victims of recent severe weather.
The extension applies to tax returns and payments due between September 21st, 2016 and January 31st, 2017.
Miller says the announcement is very welcome news to the many families and businesses in southeast Minnesota who are still working to restore property damaged by September's heavy rains and severe flash flooding.
Taxpayers in 22 counties including: Winona, Houston , Fillmore, Wabasha and Olmsted counties may be eligible. If you live in one of the affected counties and believe you may qualify for this extension, contact the Minnesota Department of Revenue at 651-556-3003 or 1-800-657-3909.
If you live in Fillmore, Houston, or Winona County, this extension applies to Minnesota tax returns only. Local or federal tax due dates remain unchanged......
