The Winona County Board of Commissioners will bring 2016 to an close next Tuesday with their final meeting of the year.
The board will take a final vote on the 2017 budget and tax levy calling for an increase in property taxes of 6-percent. Board members will also vote on the establishment of a new one-half cent county sales tax to help pay for county roads and bridges.
In addition, the board will vote on their own salaries for 2017 which will remain at $24,000-plus, and county elected officials 2017 salaries, and will vote on a two-year contract with the courthouse AFSCME 65 labor union. It will also hold a closed session to discuss two sheriff's department contracts that cover deputies and middle management.
Tuesday's meeting is at 7:00 p.m. at the County Government building.
