Alma City Council-Property Taxes
The Alma City Council raised property taxes 5.13 percent to pay for 2017 public municipal services.
The council agreed to collect 324-thousand dollars from 2017 property taxes, up from $308,000 in 2016 and $272,000 more than in 2015.
Budgeted expenses for the coming year are up 2.86 percent to 1.1 million dollars, most of the cost increase for protective fire, police and ambulance services.
Protection services were budgeted at $160,020, nearly a 23 percent increase. Recreation costs are up 9.5 percent to $86,195 while money budgeted for highway was down 0.64 percent to $154,600.
