The Winona City Council will hold a public hearing tonight on a wellhead protection plan.
The city has undertaken a study and planning process to protect areas that may have potential for contamination of the city's public wells. Part of that protection plan includes the public hearing.
In addition, the Council will be asked to approve a new joint powers agreement with Winona County for Emergency Management Services. A new agreement with the county calls for a new deputy director position to be created and filled by a Winona firefighter.
The old agreement was established in 1981.
The meeting is Tuesday night because of the Martin Luther King Junior holiday on Monday when city offices were closed.
