The Buffalo County land conservation department is updating its inventory list of 135 dam structures in the county.
The department has sought landowner cooperation in identifying dam structure types, locations, maintenance records and status conditions.
Committee supervisors have talked about offering landowners cost-sharing to repair up to 5 dam structures annually.
Landowners of dam structures that need repairs were encouraged to contact the land conservation department.
Nettie Rosenow, chairperson of the county's land conservation & resource management committee, recommended doing more promotion of conservation work.
She suggested highlighting water quality improvements achieved through watershed management practices installed in the Waumandee Creek Priority Watershed Project.
