Ag Plastic Recycling

There's a new recycling program underway in Winona County designed to reduce the amount of agricultural plastic being taken to the landfill.

An Arkansas company called Revolution Plastic has begun pickups at Winona County farms of used plastic silage covers, bunker covers, and bell rap.

Director of Operations, Price Murphy, says so far 140 farms in Winona County are taking part in the free pickup after dumpsters were dropped off at the farms on December 21st.

Murphy says the used plastic is sent to the firm's Arkansas' factory where it is processed.

Murphy says the company operates similar programs in, 12 states including, Wisconsin where 2,400 farms take part and some one million pounds of ag plastics a month are recycled.

In Winona County collections are made every two to six weeks depending on the farm.....
