The Winona Area Public School District is welcoming all community members to submit ideas for reductions to be made in the district's budget for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year.
In order to maintain the financial stability of the district, the goal is to find expenditure reductions or revenue enhancements totaling 1.5 million dollars.
A committee has been formed to aid in this process. The committee membership consists of community members, teacher leaders, staff from other groups, and school board members. They met for the first time on January 24th and were educated on many facets of the district's budget.
On February 21st the group will meet again to discuss budget reduction ideas that have been submitted between now and that date. Notes from those discussions, along with the full list of reduction ideas, will be provided to the full school board who will make the decision on which reductions to implement for the upcoming year.
The public can submit ideas to the district at a dedicated email address...budget.reductionwinona.k12.mn.us. All submissions will be confidential.
