Republican Jim Hagedorn is not giving up on his efforts to defeat Congressman Tim Walz in Minnesota's First Congressional District.
After having lost to Walz in both 2014 and 2016, Hagedorn said, in a news release, he plans to run again in 2018.
The National Republican Congressional Committee has released a list of 36 U.S. House districts targeted for takeover in the 2018 election cycle. Included on the list is the Minnesota First District seat currently held by incumbent Democrat Tim Walz.
In 2016, Hagedorn came within 2,547 votes, less than one percent, of defeating Walz. The margin was the 12th closet race in Minnesota's history. Hagedorn has continued to campaign and is a candidate for Congress in 2018.
In a statement, Hagedorn said "Our campaign continues to build momentum from our razor-thin 2016 result.
The NRCC's targeting of Walz is another example of how the pieces are falling into place for victory in 2018.....
