Authorities said a 32-year-old Winona County man was injured when the horse drawn buggy he was driving was rear-ended by a car near St. Charles over the weekend.
Winona County Sheriff Ron Ganrude said the buggy was being driven by Joseph Yoder on County Road 35 about 6:30 p.m. Friday night when it was struck from behind by the car driven by 38-year-old John Henry Wegman of Dover.
The impact sent the buggy into the ditch but Yoder was not injured. The horse also survived. Wegman initially left the scene and returned where he was cited for gross misdemeanor criminal vehicular operation resulting in bodily harm, failure to stop at a crash scene, and D-W-I.
Wegman has a blood alcohol test at .11 and was held in jail. The buggy was termed a total loss.....
