The Winona City Council will take up requests from two local developers on Monday regarding proposed large construction projects.
Both developers are requesting the establishment of tax increment financing districts to assist in the projects.
The Rivers Hotel Group is seeking the TIF district on the property at 926 Mankato Avenue, the former site of the Quality Inn hotel. Rivers is proposing an 8.75 million dollar development of a Fairfield by Marriott hotel with 96 rooms that would employ over 40 people. The funds would be used to help the developer prepare the land for final construction.
The Latsch Building Partnership is requesting the TIF district for a 7.6 million dollar project at 102 Market Street downtown. They propose the rehab of the existing building into a combination of retail space and housing.
The council will be asked to set October 2nd for public hearings on both requests.
The council meets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at City Hall.....
