Winona-Veteran's Day

Winona will celebrate Veterans Day with several special events on Saturday, Nov. 11.

The 25th annual 24-hour Vigil will take place on Saturday, beginning and ending at midnight at the main flag pole at Veterans Park.

A “guard” of 2 or more individuals will stand in silent tribute to local men and women who have served our nation in the Armed Forces.

The public is invited to participate by keeping company with watch standers while holding a candle, driving by and waving or honking, or some other manner of showing support.

The traditional Veterans Day ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at Veterans Park.

The American Legion will host “Post Everlasting” a ceremony honoring deceased Legionaires of the past year, taking place at 1 p.m.

The VFW and American Legion will be open all day to veterans and family and friends of veterans.
