Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development has a chance to develop or expand afterschool programs in 11 counties around the state, thanks to a $13,000 grant from the JC Penney Round Up for Afterschool program.
Counties where the grant will be distributed to 4-H afterschool programs include Buffalo and Trempealeau Counties.
The afterschool programs will mostly serve children in grades K-5.
Programs in Trempealeau County will include nutrition and healthy living lessons in their afterschool settings. Buffalo and Trempealeau Counties will also offer opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and programming like rocketry and robotics.
Some programs will begin this summer, and the rest will continue through the following school year.
