Winona could see the start of the Highway 43 bridge project happen sooner than expected.
While the target date has been in July, Project Manager Terry Ward, with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, told a Winona Radio audience the startup could be as soon at June 1st.
He says MnDOT is just waiting for final environmental permits to be approved.
Ward says they could even start some of the work before the permits are approved and that would include staging and construction of a temporary access road near Riverview Drive for construction workers.
Ward says the access road will result in the bike trail in that area being closed.
