Alma Budget

Conservative controls over property taxes in Wisconsin have continued to keep local taxes stable while forcing counties and municipalities to find new revenues or tighten spending.

The lid on property taxes could be seen in Alma's new city budget for 2014, a million dollar package balanced by raising taxes just $172.

The Alma City Council adopted a 2014 budget of just over $1,000,000, up 2.6
percent, and set a $271,950 tax levy, an increase of less than a tenth percent.

A public budget hearing in front of the city council was over as quickly as it began at city hall on November 14th. No one came to the hearing.
