Alternate Side Parking

Despite the colder winter Winona Police wrote fewer tickets this time for alternate side parking violations.

Police reported 1,762 tickets were written for alternate side parking violations between November 15th and March 15th.
That compares to the 2,193 tickets written during the same time period last year.
The number of towed vehicles also declined sharply with just 64 towed this time compared to 297 towed vehicles last winter.

One thing different this time around is that tag and towing operations were only held in the downtown area while a year ago operations involved the entire city of Winona.

If all of the $25 fines are paid this time the city will collect just over $44,000 which will go into the city coffers.
Tickets not paid go to warrant and that can bring additional charges.
