Area Primary Races



Tuesday's primary in Tempealeau County where Democratic incumbent Sheriff Richard Anderson faced a third challenge from Terrance Daffinson, a member of Anderson's department, was a close one.
                      
Anderson received 1,406 votes to Daffinson's 1,047 votes. Anderson will now face Independence Party candidate Tim Hovell in November. Anderson is seeking a fourth 4-year term.

In Wabasha County, two county board seats saw three candidates trimmed to two.

In the fifth district, challengers Tom Dwelle and Cheryl McGrath Key both received more votes than incumbent David Harms. Dwelle got 185 votes, Key 183 votes and Harms received 99 votes.

In the second district, with 21 of 26 precincts reporting, it was Brian Goihl with 143 votes,  Simon Kehren with 57 votes and Jamie Mehrkens with 50 votes.

The top two in each race will advance to the general election in November.
