BK 5K Awards

The BK-5K Youth Fund has announced that is has provided support to 24 Winona Youth programs totaling just over $128,000 in the 2012 funding cycle.

The fund was established with the Fastenal sponsored BK-5K Road Race as a means to support Winona area youth, and to create an ongoing way to honor Bob Kierlin, the founder of the Fastenal Company and lifelong supporter of youth programs.  A record number of grants were evaluated.

The funds will go to meet needs such as fitness equipment for disabled students, snowshoes and geocaching equipment for physical fitness programs, middle school and high school band drumline equipment, band instruments and classroom technology for numerous schools.

Funds were also donated to a number of private organizations including the YMCA, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Goodview Sandlot Baseball.
