Captain Bittle has a total of 23 years of fire service experience, having started with the Winona Fire Department in 1992 as a part time firefighter. Several months later he was promoted to a full time position.
Bittle is the first paramedic in the Winona Fire Department which currently has 13 paramedics in its full time ranks and he oversees all Emergency Medical Services Training and operations. He is also the lead instructor an all ice rescue and swift water rescue training for the department.
Captain Bittle will officially take over the lead of the fire department on June 1st.
He resides in Winona with his wife Candy and his two daughters Carlie and Cassidy.
