The City of Winona would like to see any leftover vacant space after the Highway 43 bridge project is completed turned into green space and connected with Levee Park.
Assistant City Planner Carlos Espinosa told a Winona Radio audience it's being considered.
Espinosa said a walkway on top of the flood dike is currently in place behind the adjacent former McNally property and the unfinished townhomes for a possible connection.
Espinosa also says the city has not received any proposals for a private firm to purchase the townhomes or lumber yard since a moratorium was lifted.
Property owners impacted by the bridge project will receive a right of first refusal to get them back. After that, MinnDOT will offer unclaimed vacant properties to the city for public use or redevelopment.....
