Details are still taking shape for the Minnesota Department of Transportation plan for the new Highway 43 interstate bridge project.
MnDOT Bridge Project Manager Terry Ward says progress is being made and the construction phase has been moved up to begin as early as next July.
Ward says there are several steps behind the scenes that continue, including starting the property acquisition process and making offers to property owners.
Ward says MnDOT is currently looking to hire a general contractor and will hold a public hearing in Winona next month concerning the environmental assessment of the project.
The current timeline estimates completion of the new bridge sometime between the Fall of 2019 and the Spring of 2020.
