(KWNO)-A bill to offer $120 million in broadband grants passed unanimously out of the Industrial Education Committee in the Minnesota House Wednesday.

“This is the largest amount the House has ever passed forwards,” said Rep. Gene Pelowski DFL-Winona on KWNO’s In the Know Thursday morning. “For a bill that size that is an achievement to have all of the members, Republican and Democrat, pass it.”

The bill allocates $60 million for two years to cover improvements to broadband across the state. The bill heads for the House Ways and Means Committee.

Pelowski was unsure if the bill would be passed in a standalone fashion or if it would get lumped together with other legislation which would match the Senate version.
