Cochrane-Fountain City standout athlete Abbey Killian is staying close to home to continue her athletic career. Killian has decided to attend Saint Mary’s University and she will play both volleyball and softball for the Cardinals. She chose Saint Mary’s over the University of Dubuque. Killian is very familiar with Saint Mary’s because her mother works at the college. Originally she didn’t want to go to college close to home but in the end she decided Saint Mary’s was the best place for her.
Killian wanted to go to a Division III school so that she could play both volleyball and softball. Killian was a standout setter for the Pirates’ volleyball team the past four years. She has also been the starting pitcher for the softball team the past four years and she just led C-FC to the Wisconsin Division 4 state championship game last weekend. She was also selected to play in the Wisconsin Senior All-Star Game which was played on Tuesday. Killian was 21-3 this season with a .77 ERA with 215 strikeouts in 154 innings pitched.
Killian says her plan is to play both sports next year and then decide if she wants to continue to play two sports in the coming years.
