The Winona County Sheriff's Department is continuing its investigation into burglary reports at two cabins along the Mississippi River on Winnebago Island near Lock and Dam 5-A.
Chief Deputy Sheriff Ron Ganrude said a breakin was reported at one cabin on Friday and a number of items were reported missing with a total value of about $600. The items included a tackle box with fishing equipment, rods and reels, a chain saw, a water pump, a screen tent, and two plastic boat oars.
A neighboring cabin was also entered but nothing was reported missing. The owner did tell authorities that a Jet Ski was taken for a ride and brought back without gas and a dead battery.
Ganrude said it's believed the breakins happened between July 1st and July 6th.
