(KWNO)- Two more car thefts were reported to the Winona Police over the weekend, but this time, officers were able to make an arrest.

At 12:01 a.m. and 12:51 a.m. Officers received a report of two different car thefts around the same area. One occurred on the 50 block of E 11th Street and the other on the 150 block of E 10th Street. Both vehicles were left unlocked.

Taken from the first vehicle was a wallet and from the second vehicle a Nautica Jacket.

Officers were able to view a nearby security camera and see the theft take place. Officers were also able to spot tracks thanks to the snow that fell overnight.

Officers were able to track the footprints to an address on Mankato Ave. where they found a Brett Dennis, 35 of Winona, Minn.

When they spoke with Dennis, they noticed that he was wearing the exact jacket that was described as being stolen. Dennis admitted to the car thefts, and officers were able to return the items. Dennis was cited for mis-demeanor theft and tampering with a vehicle but was not arrested.

WPD says that Dennis denied any involvement in the various other car thefts around Winona in recent weeks.
