Cotter Soccer Advances to State Semi Final

MONTICELLO, Minn. (KWNO)- The Cotter Rambler girl’s soccer team is on to the state semi-final.

The Ramblers topped Section 8 champion St. Cloud Cathedral 4-0 in the Class A state quarterfinal at Monticello High School Wednesday night.

Alyssa Williams broke a 0-0 tie with her 26th goal of the year scoring with 13:19 to go in the first half. Then Sera Speltz netted the first of her three goals with 12 seconds remaining in the half.

Speltz kept the momentum going for Cotter, finding the back of the net for the second time 14:33 to play in the 2nd half. She clinched the hat trick and put the game on ice when she beat Catherdrial goalkeeper Amelia Newiger for a third time with 8:10 to play.

The Ramblers will face Minnehaha Acadamy in the semi-final on Thursday, Nov. 4. at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The Red Hawks topped Proctor 9-1 in their quarterfinal match on Tuesday.
