The Winona County Board of Commissioners will elect a new chairperson as the first order of business when the board holds its first meeting of the new year on Tuesday.
Two board members, who were officially sworn in on Friday, will have a ceremonial swearing in also on Tuesday. They are new Third District Commissioner Steve Jacob and incumbent Fourth District Commissioner Greg Olson who was re-elected in November.
The meeting will be at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the County Government center. During the meeting the board will hear and update from County Recorder Bob Bambenek on real estate recordings in 2012.
Under consent business, the board will be asked to approve a 4-percent salary increase for Finance Director Pat Moga who has been given the added duties of overseeing the County Auditor-Treasurer's office until a person is hired to replace the retired Sue Rivers.
The board will hear an update on the status of environmental assessment worksheets for two proposed frac sand mines in Saratoga Township...plus hear a presentation on the county's Comprehensive Plan Project.
