The Winona County Gardens at Stone Point Park have become a popular place for gardeners and their produce this summer. Not only have 21 families and groups been involved with the gardens. but some local students have been learning the art of gardening and helping feed the hungary. County VISTA Volunteer Caitlin Nickelson told the county board that Middle School 7th graders have been involved in growing food and making donations of their produce to local organizations. Nickelson said it's part of the Education Gardens Program being operated by the Winona County Master Gardeners. Soon some of the produce will also be supplied to the Middle School itself so the students can see for themselves how the produce helps the community.
