A Winona County sheriff's deputy was injured and a Wilson area man was jailed on over the weekend following a domestic disturbance.
Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude said Deputy Bill Spitzer suffered a severely sprained ankle Saturday when he scuffled with 26 year old Phillip Allen Heyer. Heyer was initially charged with suspicion of obstructiing with force and was jailed.
The case has been turned over to the county attorney's office for determination of formal charges against Heyer. Spitzer, who is also the mayor of St. Charles, was treated at Winona Health Ganrude said, where Spitzer was diagnosed with a severely sprained ankle.
Ganrude said Spitzer suffered the injury when he was allegedly pushed off some outside cement steps on to a cement landing by Heyer. Authorities were called to the residence along County Road 12 at 12:22 p.m. Saturday on a report that Heyer was involved in a disturbance with a female.
Ganrude said Heyer ended up being tased twice by a second deputy as Heyer allegedly resisted arrest. Heyer and that female deputy were not injured. Heyer claimed he and the female occupant of the residence had a verbal argument only and Heyer claimed he had done nothing wrong.
