Dog shot in Elba, shooter unknown

(KWNO)-Someone shot a dog in Elba on Monday. Winona County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 1300 block of Main Street on Monday evening and found a German Shepard with a gun shot wound. According to a Sheriff’s Office spokesperson the dog was shot with what’s believed to be a shotgun.

The dog owner told deputies he had an idea who shot the dog. Officers talked to those people, who live near where the dog was found, and they denied shooting the dog. There have been past reports about the dog being off the owner’s property and roaming around other properties in the area, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies were called back to Elba about an hour later for an argument between the dog owner and the person or persons he speculates shot the dog. No arrests were made no one was cited.
