Representatives of several agencies will be in downtown Winona Wednesday to conduct a joint investigation into the cause of the September 13th fire that destroyed three historic buildings and damaged several others.
Along with the fire and police departments, investigators from the state fire marshal's office, FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms are also expected to be on hand.
Assistant Fire Chief Jim Multhaup said the collapsed roof the Winona Islamic Center will be removed along with debris as investigators try to reconstruct the scene.
Earlier, fire investigators and police said they were confident the fire started at the rear of the Islamic Center and may have been electrical in nature but were unable to gain full access to the area because of debris and safety concerns.
Multhaup said it may take until the end of this week before the investigation is completed and final determination can be made on the fire's origin.....
