Authorities said a female was killed when her vehicle collided with a semi truck on Highway 14 just west of Lewiston at 6:00 a.m. Thursday.
Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand said the woman, identified as 33-year-old Tammy Mack of Minneapolis, was driving a pickup truck that caught fire after the impact and she was trapped inside. A dog in the back of the pickup also died.
Brand said the pickup was westbound and the truck, owned by Benson Feed Service of Lewiston, was eastbound. He said it appeared the pickup may have crossed the centerline.
The driver of the truck, identified as 71-year-old Donald Fabian of Lewiston, was not seriously injured.
The highway was closed for a time and a detour was put into place
The Lewiston Fire Department and Ambulance responded to the scene along with the sheriff's department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
