A mechanical problem has delayed the U-S Army Corps of Engineers from completing its latest survey of the ice depth on Lake Pepin.
The Corps, on its website, said they expect to have the latest readings available Friday.
Two weeks ago the ice was still 30 inches thick near Reads Landing and about two feet thick at several other locations.
Still no towboats heading up river to open the commercial shipping season at Winona. The commercial harbor remained iced-in this week.
