Food Drive

The annual March Foodshare month is underway in Minnesota and, locally, Winona Volunteer Services kicked off its drive.  Executive Director Sandra Burke says the need  in the community is just as great as it has been in past years.

Burke said while there has been a slight drop in food shelf usage so far this year, the local shelves have still been serving over 900 households a month...including those on fixed incomes and the working poor.

Green drop barrels are are located in the local food stores and in a number of local churches. Non-perishable food and cash donations can also be dropped off at Winona Volunteer Services at 402 East Second Street during regular business hours.

The local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will hold their annual food pickups in Winona, Minnesota City, and Rollingstone on March Saturday, 23rd.
