The non-metallic mining and processing ordinances would replace shorter less comprehensive documents that are already in force.
County Zoning Administrator Kevin Krause told the Rochester Post Bulletin that no applications for sand mining permits have been received so far.
The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. January 23rd, at the old Wabasha County Courthouse.
Meanwhile, the City of Wabasha may be considering a moratorium to give the City Council time for more study on the impacts of the large number of trucks hauling frac sand into the community.
The Post-Bulletin reports a moratorium would not apply to the sand processing and loading plant already under construction in the city by Superior Sand Systems.
The city council has granted that company a permit to bring as many as 250 sand trucks into the city per day.
A moratorium may be discussed at the city council's next meeting on February 6th.
